If you need to have your glasses adjusted, the best thing to do would be to have your Dr office do it. Some
Doctors will and some won't because you didnt buy them there. Its a good idea to call first. "Hi there I am a patient of Dr Dan but I did not purchase my glasses with you. Still, I would like
you
to look at them and make sure they are fitting me correctly so that my eyes are not under any strain. As he
/she is my doctor and wants to continue having me as a patient, I am assuming
you would do this as part of my follow-up health care process".
If they are unwilling to do so, some of the larger chains will not, then you can bend them yourself. Just be very careful, especially with rimless glasses. The arms bend pretty easily and the pads on the nose move easily but are fragile as well. They are adjusted by opticians all the time though so keep that in mind. They are meant to be adjusted - it just needs to be done with a light touch.
Plastic frames can be adjust
ed by getting the material hot with a hair dryer. Just place the dryer between your knees, facing out, and let the area of the glasses you want to bend touch the end of the dryer. Keep teseting that it is getting easier to bend as it gets warm. Be gentle while bending. Keep testing
them on your head
to see how it is coming, but make sure that the glasses are not too hot to put on your head. If the nosepiece does not fit correctly on glasses with a plastic frame, then you can bend then
at the bridge, closing the gap,
by warming them, but be very careful to make sure you are not putting too much pressure on the lenses as you can pop them out by doing so.
